Beyond excellent beach spots, a wide variety of tourist attractions is present here, from extreme sports and explosive night clubs to classical music performances and exploring the legacy of the Olympics.
Excursions. The region is famous for its variety of archaeological and historical monuments—table-stones, ancient settlements, burial mounds, fortresses—left by various peoples who have lived here since ancient times. The numerous memorial sites and constructions attract tourists and visitors from all over the country every year.
Ethnotourism is most strikingly represented by the outdoor Ataman ethnic complex.
The Ataman stanitsa is located on Taman land, which carries a rich history. The Taman Peninsula is part of Temryuksky District of Krasnodar region. Traces of many peoples and even civilizations have become intertwined here in a wondrous fashion. Every square meter of this fine land is imbued with legends and myths of old.
In 2009, an old-fashioned Cossack stanitsa of ATAMAN began its life on 20 hectares of Taman land. It is a living stanitsa, with its own inhabitants, way of life, singing and dancing, real farming, cattle, lookouts, inns and ancient huts, a market square with britzkas and wagons, a town church, and other attributes of pre-Revolution Cossack life. It is an exact copy of the way of life of those Cossacks who settled here by order of Catherine the Great and forever made these lands a part of Russia.
Every visitor of Ataman finds themselves in a world that is age-old yet authentic and alive, one where cabbage and potatoes grow in beds, a Cossack woman is forever taking freshly baked bread out of the oven, and dashing young Cossack men compete in agility and bravado. Here you can find yourself at a genuine Cossack wedding, talk like a Cossack and listen to actual Cossack tales.
Wine tours. Tourists can personally witness the unique corners of nature where elite wine grapes are being grown. Beyond visiting winemaking factories, visitors can taste Kuban wine, talk to master winemakers and participate in theatrical performances. In addition, tourists can visit wine therapy centers, where wine bathing is available as treatment.
Hiking is another form of tourism popular in Krasnodar region. At the moment there are 150 tourist routes with 130 natural and cultural-historical tourist sites in Krasnodar region. The routes pass through foothill, mountain and sea resorts.
