Hello, Bharathwaaj! Cost of living in Russia for every particular person may be quite different, it depends on personal demand and income, of course. Average salary in Russia is about 630$ per person per month , but in every particular area it differs. For example, in Moscow it is about 1060$. We will talk about Murmansk region, here it is about 900$ per month, according to official statistics in 2020.

Murmansk is quite a large city comparing with some Scandinavian north towns; in fact, Murmansk is the largest city north of the Arctic circle in the world. It has wide touristic infrastructure, a lot of opportunities - cultural, for shopping, for activities, for entertainment. Another difference is that services here are in general cheaper than in Scandinavia.

As for weather, it is quite cold, but not too much due to the warm stream. In spite of our location on the far north, climate here is relatively mild.; average temperature in winter is -10 degrees Centigrade.
September - March is a good period to watch the Northern Lights, December - March is a snowy period good for various winter activities, June - September is a good period to enjoy beautiful northern nature, to go hiking in picturesque places; to see the Polar day, All periods are good for general sightseeing. In our city youwill find not much sites of Historical Architecture. Murmansk is a young city, it is only 104 years old , and many places of interest are connected with the war; as the city witnessed four fours during its quite short history. As for Museums, we have: the first nuclear Icebreaker Lenin (serves a s a museum now), a Regional Museum of Local Studies (devoted to nature and history of the area), Museum of the Northern Fleet (naval history), another Museum devoted to the exploration of the Northern Sea Route.
We usually include them in our programs (or 2-3 of them).
